Renowned for the high quality of its oil and the beauty of its landscape, the town of  Canino is located in the heart of Tuscia Lazio and hosts various exciting and interesting events and traditional festivals each year.

Here is a list of the main events held in Canino, from January to December:

January:

-“Sant’Antonio Abate” (St. Antonio Abate): a traditional festival in honour of the saint with a benediction of the town’s animals and a local celebration, held on 17th or the subsequent Sunday.

April:

-“Festa dell’Asparago”(Asparagus Festival): a traditional local fair celebrating the renowned asparagus, a typical produce of Canino

-“Festa degli Aquiloni”(Festival of the Kites)

May:

- “Fiera delle Merci e del Bestiame”(Market and Cattle Fair): a traditional festival held in Canino with exhibitions and great handicraft fairs.

June:

-“Festa delle Contrade”(District Festival): organized during the last week of the month, it is a celebration of the various ancient districts of the town.

August:

-“Festa della Birra”(Beer Festival): an interesting event celebrating beer on the streets of Canino during the beginning of the month.

-“Artistanti”: a very important event with shows by street artists and musicians, great food and various entertainment.

September:

-“Festa di San Clemente”(St. Clemente Festival): traditional and beautiful festivities in honour of the patron saint of Canino.

November:

-“Pane e Olio in frantoio”(Bread and Oil in Frantoio): held during the last week of the month, this festival is the most precious and important gastronomic event organized in Canino and consists of food stalls and various markets celebrating the typical wine, cuisine and products local to the area.

December:

-“Sagra dell’olivo”(Olive Fair): a wonderful local event celebrating the high quality Extravirgin Olive Oil DOP, produced in the territory and appreciated across Tuscany and Italy.

Must see events:

“Pane e Olio in frantoio”(Bread and Oil in Frantoio): A relatively recent event, this festival promotes and appreciates the typical products produced locally.

Organized in the last days of November, it is a very big and important event for the town, capable of attracting a large number of tourists who come to enjoy the local products and the beautiful town of Canino itself.

The festival is, without a doubt, the best time to not only try the delicious traditional cuisine, wine and bread of the area, but also to see the sights of Tuscia Lazio, with its ancient architecture, its monuments and its breathtaking views.

“Sagra dell’olivo”(Olive Fair): The most important and precious gastronomic event held  Canino, this festival takes place during the month of December and provides visitors with the chance to appreciate the beauty of the countryside and excellent local products.

Already in its 64th year in 2007, the festival in seeped in tradition and history, celebrating and promoting the high quality Extravirgin Olive Oil PDO of Canino.

The festival includes a number of food stands, offering the various oil and other local products produced in this part of Lazio.

Visitors can enjoy the extraordinary culture and culinary tradition of Canino, as well as musical shows and various entertainment.
