Overlooking the beautiful shores of Garda Lake, in the northern part of Tuscia Lazio, lies the delightful village of Capodimonte.
Each year this charming town hosts numerous festivals and cultural events, celebrating their rich traditions and history.
Here is a list of the main events held in Capodimonte throughout the year:
January:
-“Sant’Antonio Abate”(St. Antonio Abate): a traditional celebration for the saint, held on the 17th or the subsequent Sunday, with a benediction of the town’s animals, as well as games and a torchlight festival in the main piazza of the town.
-“San Sebastiano”(St. Sebastiano): a local festival for the patron saint of Capodimonte.
April:
-“Rievocazione della Passione di Cristo”(Recreation of the Passion of the Christ): celebrations and a beautiful procession along the streets of the historic centre.
April-May:
-“Infiorata”: held on the 3rd Sunday after Easter, flowers are scattered on the streets of the historic centre to celebrate the Madonna of Grace.
June:
-“Processione del Corpus domini”(Procession of Corpus Domini): a wonderful procession along the streets of the town.
August:
-“Sagra del Coregone”(Festival of the Whitefish): held on the second week of the month, this festival celebrates the typical whitefish dishes, a fish found in abundance in Garda Lake.
“Santa Maria Assunta in Cielo”(St. Maria Assumed in the Sky): festivities in honour of Our Lady on the 15th, with a beautiful and suggestive nighttime procession and fireworks show.
“San Rocco”(St. Rocco): celebrations for the saint, held on the 16th.
“Estate Capodimontana” (Capodimontana Summer): an open air dance, celebrating the beautiful Italian summer with shows, musical entertainment, delicious food and concerts.
