Cinigiano is a charming village located in an area of infinite beauty and interest.

Each year the town hosts various fascinating and interesting events and traditional festivals that are not to be missed.

Here is a list of the best events held in the charming town of Cinigiano, in chronological order:

January:

-“Teatro”(Theatre): an interesting theatre event held in Cinigiano.

July:

-“Amiata Piano Festival”: a musical event in Cinigiano from the beginning of July until the end of August.

August:

-“Note di Montecucco”(Note of Montecucco): a traditional gastronomic festival where visitors can try the high quality local cuisine and wines produced in this area, including the Montecucco DOC.

-“Calici di Stelle”(Chalice of the Stars): another interesting gastronomic festival along the streets of the town.

-“Artificia Necessaria”(Necessary Tricks): a historic event held on the second last week of the month in Monticello Amiata, that celebrates the ancient professions and traditional products of the territory

September:

-“Sagra del Capitone”(Festival of the Capitone): Capitone is a typical Italian dish made of fried or roasted large eels. Organized on the third Sunday of the month, this interesting event celebrates this and other local dishes by joining the cooking techniques and traditions of the past with the territory’s cuisine.

October:

-“Festa dell’Uva” (Festival of the Grape): organized during the first weekend of the month, this festival opens the town’s cellars offering visitors the chance to try the wines of the area.

-“Festa della Castagna” (Festival of the Chestnut): held in the district of Monticello Amiata, it is an extremely important event that celebrates one of the most appreciated and famous products produced in the entire territory.

November:

-“Festa dell’olio” (Festival of Oil):  a traditional gastronomic festival also held in the charming district of Monticello Amiata.

Must see events:

“Festa dell’Uva” (Festival of the Grape): Seen as the most important event held in the small town of Cinigiano, this festival is capable of attracting the attention of a large number of tourists each year, who come to appreciate the beauty of the town and enjoy the  high quality wines and products produced in the area.

Founded in 1966 to celebrate the beauty of Cinigiano, this festival’s main purpose is to promote the incredible quality of the grapes grown in the territory and the unquestionably  high quality wines they produce.

During the festival the cellars of the historic center are opened and visitors are given the opportunity to try dishes with ancient roots, as well as appreciate the traditions of Cinigiano.

The event also includes various musical events, performances, shows and an oenological competition with wine prizes.

The festivities are then continued on Sunday with a float parade and a procession in period costume by citizens from the three districts of the city: Molino, Pescina and Cassero.
