Located amongst the enchanting hills of the Tuscia Laziale, Montefiascone is an  absolutely delightful and fascinating town that hosts various interesting cultural events and festivals each year.

Here is a list of the best events held in Montefiascone, from January to December:

February:

-“Fiera delle Merci” (Market Fair): a charming traditional festival held on the 20th, with displays and stalls selling locally made objects, including beautiful hand wrought iron items

April:

-“Rievocazione della Passione di Cristo”(Recreation of the Passion of Christ)

-“Mostra di Antiquariato”(Antique Display): a fantastic and important antiques fair held on the third week of the month on the streets of the town.

-“San Flaviano”(St. Flaviano): a lovely religious festival perfect for families, with fairs, raffles, a bike race and a pyrotechnic evening show.

May:

-“Festa di San Giuseppe Lavoratore”(Festival of St. Giuseppe Lavoratore): held on the 1st, it includes an exciting and colourful fireworks show and a big band concert.

-“Festa di San Pancrazio”(St. Pancrazio Festival): religious celebrations in honour of the saint, with an evocative torchlight procession and a fire works show.

-“Sagra del Raviolo dolce”(Sweet Raviolo Festival): Held on the same days as the St. Pancrazio festival, this gastronomic event celebrates the local cuisine, including the sweet raviolo, a small pillow-like piece of pasta filled with meat, cheese or vegetables.

-“Festa di Santa Maria del Giglio”(St. Maria del Giglio Festival): organized on the 13th.

June:

-“Festa di Santa Maria delle Grazie”(St. Maria delle Grazie Festival): taking place on the 2nd and 3rd, this festival includes a beautiful religious procession, a band and a chance to try the delicious local sweet bun.

-“Festa di Santa Maria del Giglio”(St. Maria del Giglio Festival): another traditional religious celebration with a stunning fireworks show.

-“Infiorata”: in honour of the festival of the Corpus Domini, the streets are decorated with beautiful panels depicting religious figures with flowers and leaves that are later judged and awarded prizes.

-“Festa della Madonna Madre della Chiesa”(Festival of the Madonna Mother of the Church): sacred traditional celebrations demonstrating the rich culture of the area with shows, musical entertainment and wine and food tasting.

-“Festa della Madonna Santissima del Borgale”(Festival of the Madonna Santissima del Borgale): with games and a solemn mass.

- “Sagra della Salsiccia”(Sausage Festival): a delicious gastronomic event celebrating the rich and unique culture and cuisine of the area.

July:
- “Festa di Santa Margherita”(St. Margherita Festival): a beautiful festival accompanied by a flower market, a big band concert and an evening of pyrotechnics. Held on the 20th.

“Concerti”(Concerts): musical shows and entertainment promoting the fantastic and varied local talent and music customs of the region.

“Fiera del Vino”(Wine Fair): held during the second half of the month, this important event celebrates and promotes the high quality and internationally renowned local wine EST!EST!!EST!!!.

- “Est Film Festival”: A short film festival organized during the third week of the month and showcasing the talented local film makers.

August:

-“In cantina con Defuk”(Winery with Defuk): a gastronomic festival with a handicraft market, wine tasting and the chance to try some of the typical products of the area.

-“Corteo Storico”(Historic Parade): one of the most beautiful events held in Montefiascone, this colourful medieval costume parade involves more than 150 people and celebrates the rich history of the area.

-“Il Cantinone”: a gastronomic festival along the streets of the town.

September:

-“Festa di San Bartolomeo”(St. Bartolomeo Festival): held on the 23rd and 24th, this lovely event includes a market fair and a celebration of the delicious local sweet bun.

-“Madonna della Santissima Valle”: a great family day with local traditional games, a band and food stalls.

-“Festa della Madonna della Santissima Vittoria”(Festival of the Madonna della Santissima Vittoria)

December:

-“Presepi”(Nativity): a fair and display of an elegant and traditional nativity on the streets of the town.

-“Festa dell’Olio”(Oil Festival): a local gastronomic fair that celebrates the high quality oil produced locally, with tastings and entertainment. Held in the first half of the month.

Must see events:

“Fiera del Vino”(Wine Fair): One of the most important events held in Montefiascone, this festival takes place during the months of July and August in the magnificently beautiful Municipal Garden.

The largest wine festival held in the territory, this event is something of great honor and importance for the town and is capable of attracting a great amount of attention and tourists to the village each year.

This exciting festival also provides a gastronomical route, known as “Winery with Defuk”, which leads visitors on a fantastic and informative tour through the towns with the best wineries and local products.

The main purpose of this event is to celebrate and promote the high quality and internationally renowned locally made wine EST! EST! EST!. With beautiful markets and craft fairs, as well as a fascinatingly detailed medieval costume parade and games, this event is filled with colour, great food, great wine and the chance to truly experience the unique and charming culture of Montefiascone.
