Events

Each year the Maremman village of Orbetello organizes a great number of splendid and fascinating events, cultural fairs and local festivals, worthy of being appreciated and visited.

Here is a list of the major events held in Orbetello, in chronological order:

February:

- “Carnevale” (Carnival): held on the streets on Orbetello, it is a festival filled with colour, a float parade and a delightful masked and costumed procession.

April:

- “Mercatino dell’Artigianato” (Handicraft Market): organized in the small district of Talamone.

July:

“X Sagra del Cavallo” (10th  Horse Festival): an interesting local event celebrating and promoting the local products of the Maremma.

-“Sagra Gastronomica” (Gastronomic Festival): a traditional festival held in the small district of Polverosa, it includes a host of various interesting and spectacular cultural shows and stalls of the local and delicious cuisine of the Maremma.

-“Sagra del Moscardino” (Baby Octopus Festival): held in Talamone.

- “Sagra della Birra e della Tagliatella” (Beer and Tagliatella Festival): an interesting gastronomic festival joining and celebrating the beer culture and traditional tagliatella (a long type of pasta) of the Maremma.

November:

-“Gustatus”: a gastronomic festival promoting the traditional peasant and lagoon cuisine and typical products.

-“Grey Cat Jazz Festival”: a jazz music festival in collaboration with the music and culture of the museums and displays of Orbetello.

-“Corteo Storico” (Historical Procession): held on the streets of Orbetello, it is a display of the civilian and military clothing worn by the inhabitants of the town during the Spanish dominion of the Stati dei Presidi.

Must see events:

“Gustatus”: A food and wine event of international significance, it is a festival of great interest that joins the culture of the Maremma, with its wonderful countryside and  beautiful hills, to the local cuisine of simple but delicious dishes and products.

The festival also includes flag-wavering demonstrations, processions, musical performances and various types of entertainment, making it not only unique but very exciting and interesting.
