Scarlino is a delightful town in the Tuscan Maremma, a few kilometers away from the city of Grosseto and occupying an area of great interest in terms of mining and natural resources.
Each year Scarlino organizes various festivals and traditional events celebrating their rich history and customs.
Here is a list of the main events held in Scarlino, from January to December:
June:
-“Un mare di gusto” (A sea of tastes): a very important gastronomic event held in Scarlino during the beginning of the month; with traditional dishes, products and wines local to the area.
July:
-“Enogastronomia dell’Antica Roma”(Enogastronomy of Ancient Rome): a fascinating festival that offers visitors the chance to try dishes that stem from the ancient Roman times.
August:
-“Degustartibus”: an event filled with music, colour and typical products, held on the streets of the historic centre of Scarlino.
-“Festa Medievale”(Medieval Festival): with parades, markets, shows, reenactments and manifestations recreating the magic of the Middle Ages
October:
-“Sagra del fungo e della castagna”(Mushroom and Chestnut Festival): a town festival, this event celebrates the two most important local products of Scarlino, the chestnut and the mushroom, with shows by street artists, musical events and traditional dishes made with these two products.
